here I am

ages

April12

It’s been ages since I last posted. I just haven’t felt like communicating, at all. =) I pretty much just wanted to hang around home and do nothing. I imagine that’s mostly because of this job thing… It’s been discouraging. I thought I’d have found something by now, and something good. For the longest time, I figured that all I needed was to get out of the horrible job I was in and then things would be better. It felt great to get out of that job. I just can’t find anything else.

Enough of that, though. I really posted to put out some pictures the game we went to this weekend. For those of you who don’t know, my husband David is an avid Cleveland Indians fan. This baffles me because historically, they really aren’t very good. (To be fair, in recent years, they haven’t been very bad and they’re off to a great start this year.) I always figured if you were going to be a sports fan, you’d pick a team that was good to cheer for. I am in the process of learning the error of my ways.

We drove about 10 hours to get to and get back from the Jake. It was my first time at Jacobs Field. It’s a great park – small enough that every seat is a good one, but big enough to hold 25,000+ and only be half filled – and it’s new and very clean. Anyway, here are those pictures:

Seeing the pictures made me wish I had gone with you!

Here are some ideas on why David is such a fan of the Tribe:

    1. He’s my son. :-) (Sometimes a father’s values actually rub off on his kids!)

    2. When he was a teen, the Indians were good. Very good. They went to the World Series in 1995 and 1997, and almost won. They were good in their run-up to ‘95 and ‘97, and they continued to be good for a few years after. They only really struggled beginning around 2001 or 2002. They’ve been rebuilding since. And a guy who developed a loyalty to a good team when he was a teen will continue to follow the team and cheer for them during their rebuilding years. And it looks like the rebuilding is complete — THIS could be the year they return to greatness!!

While I’m not an Indian Fan (sorry dave), I do love Baseball. I too would drive all that way if needed! You love a team, because they are a team, not cause they’re winning silly girl! and if you like the team, then they’re fun to root for!!

Anyway, if you come home anytime soon, we’ll catch an O’s game or Phils! :)

And, things will be alright :) You obviously need this time to ‘find’ Tara! Or something, God has some plan, some where, for HIS time. Blah eh?@!

Regardless, GREAT SEATS!!! It looks like you had a blast!

Dad, that makes a lot of sense. For as much grief as I give David, I think I’m starting to actually very much enjoy baseball. I’ve also decided that I’m going to be an Indians fan, too… once I figure out what it’s all about. First step – I’m going to get a hat. =)

Sarah, you’re right. =) And I’d love to see a game with you. Promise me I don’t have to sit in the Camden nosebleed seats? Those are miserable. I loved the Jake – all the seats were great.

As a sports fan in general, and a Cubs fan in particular, I find the idea of rooting for a team just because they are good as being repulsive. Us true Cubs fans look down on such fair weather fans with contempt. Kind of like a forgiveness thing–you can’t really understand and celebrate forgiveness (or a World Championship) without knowing sin (or lack of post-season appearances–98 year World Series drought and counting). How nerdy does it make me that I used theology to discuss baseball allegiances?
