Here’s a little new-year vocabulary for you:
- To “bogart” is to hog or take more than your share. (Read this.)
- The plural of “metropolis” is “metropolises” or “metropoleis.”
Here’s a little new-year vocabulary for you:
Ramblings. Musings. A way to keep in touch with my scattered far-and-wide family. Don’t take any of it personally – chances are, my world doesn’t revolve around you. =)
I first learned about this word at the Huntington truckstop where we’d go to eat deep fat fried pepperjack cheeseburgers and play pinball.
One night Isuck (fellow SammyII resident) got some fries that he didn’t order. He mentioned it to the waitress because he didn’t want to get charged for him. She said it was no big deal and he could share with his friends or bogart em – his choice.
None of us really knew what she was talking about, but Isuck thought of this song where they say, “don’t bogart that joint my friend.”
I’ve always wondered if it has anything to do with Humphrey Bogart.
