here I am

before

January16

This weekend we’re finally getting some actual, visable work done on the kitchen.  The bathroom has been in a state of in-progress for a very long time, and I’ve harbored much loathing for the clownish kitchen colors since we bought the house. Behold the before (there was some test painting going on, but you can see what it looked like before – the green and red):

monkeys

January15

I {heart} my monkey pants.  A lot.  (They’re on their way to being too worn to wear anymore – what am I gonna do?!)

I love this old building – even more, now that I’m only there once a week.

This new job has me out of town 4 days of the week, so I miss Wednesday night services and I’m not in town for any of the other random get-togethers the church holds.

I’ll be missing a lot more than that in the near future – David’s going to graduate from seminary, and we’ll be moving on. To what? We don’t know. We do know that his ordination board wants us to move on sooner rather than later, even before he graduates, and even if it’s just to hop churches as long as they’re the right denomination.

I don’t resent his denomination – I’m just sad to see the end of the life we’ve built here. David was always going to be a pastor, so this day was always going to come. It’s just sad that it has to come… now. I was prepared for leaving when David graduated. I’m not yet prepared for leaving sooner.

plants

January10

I have a penchant for killing plants. I have kept this dead poinsettia in my house for years to remind me not to try to grow anything – especially in the house. =)

But, David bought me those little flowers on my birthday, and I figured now’s the time. I have two green plants and the flowers… and I’ve just thrown away the poinsettia. (I kinda miss it – that dead plant has been here in this house as long as we have!)

week1

January7

Leah and I are participating in Project 365 -  it’s a great way to get us out into our worlds, for Leah to get more comfortable with PhotoShop, and for me to get to know my cameras better.   We’re keeping each other accountable, and so we’ll be posting a weekly summary of the day-by-day photos.

Here’s week 1 for me:
